2001 Ford Escape Review

Ford Escape is a completely new sports utility vehicle with strong acceleration performance from optional V6 engine for good acceleration performance. Having the most power in its category offers agile handling on both paved and unpaved roads to a satisfying, fun and convenient ride for four. With relatively low price. Escape has engines with 2.0-liter DOHC 16v 4-cylinder for XLS and XLS 4WD, and 3.0-liter DOHC 24v V6 for XLT and XLT 4WD; five-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmissions; horsepower of 200 at 6000 rpm, 200 lb.-ft at 4750 rpm torque, disc/drum w ABS f/r brakes; and standard safety equipment dual front airbags, ABS and side airbags optional.

Escape responds very remarkable in a series of corners. It has understeer that provides a wider and wider arc through a corner with a good grip as it is driven harder into turn making a quick but smooth drive. The Escape is wider than other SUV’s, the most spacious among small sports utility vehicles at 133.9 cubic feet. It is more sports appealing with the short front and rear overhangs, looks bolder and aggressive than Honda CR-V, and the style reveals that it came from the same family as the Ford Explorer and Expedition.
